Focus on Yahweh

What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?

I wake up between 2-3 am, go into the living room and pray on my knees. This could last as long as 45 minutes or be as short as 5-10 minutes. I never have a set time I’m going to pray. I do my best to let the Spirit lead me in my prayers. After that I spend the rest of my time until I leave for work, about 4:15-4:30, studying the Bible. I haven’t always done this, but once I began I find my days are much easier to deal with, my emotions much more manageable, and the hardships of life much less daunting. God wants our hearts. He wants our focus each day to be Him. That doesn’t mean the only thing we ever think about is Him, it just means involving Him in every aspect of our lives. We should be considering Him when we make decisions, asking Him if this is something he would desire for us. Asking if He agrees with this thought or that. We should be desiring to please Him first and foremost, not desiring to please ourselves or anyone else. So I do my best to start my day with Him, that way keeping Him in my mind throughout the day is easier and more natural.
